I have just recently started to explore and go deeper into lojong (mind training) and tonglen practices. The teaching there is to break free from the habitual mental patterns of reacting or repressing and instead taking a middle ground between the two - of holding our seat & feeling completely what's underneath the storyline. It's beautiful. And your post reminded me of these teachings. It's lovely how you are using everyday physical training to train the mind. Keep it going :)
Ah, that's great. In the few spiritual/meditation practices I've explored, all these repeat. I don't know much - will look into those two terms and ping you to learn more about it.
And yes, my "trick" has been to bring those concepts into something that's more natural to me, and see if I can practice there.
Yes, daily life is the training ground for practice. Non judgemental awareness that most spiritual practices talk about is the starting point to understanding how our mind works. Without that we can't transform our habits.
Lojong and tonglen are more to do with opening the heart which we shield and protect so much. If we shield ourselves so much then how can we be free? Freedom is an important value for me so I pursue it :) Explore it if you feel ready 🙌
Sure. When you are ready check out Pema Chodron's, "Start where you are". The teachings are beautiful. I am sure you will enjoy reading them even if it's hard to practice!

Thanks for elaborating, Purnima. Rings true. I feel I need more base level practice, before venturing there. Definitely in a few months.
